Dexter finale: just so I can say I called it

I'm betting the central element of Dexter's fourth season finale will be Trinity capturing Harrison and Harrison being reborn in a pool of blood, much like Dexter was. Dexter will kill Trinity and save Harrison's life, but in future seasons he'll have to raise a son with dark urges -- forcing Dexter to decide how far he accepts and rejects Harry's upbringing of him.

Come on, that's a good ending even if the prediction proves wrong.

you called it. Now how about predicting the end of Lost?

Congrats. You can safely say that "you called it".

Since you figured out the season finale, how about those mega millions numbers?

WTF. So upset. I <3 dexter and without rita I feel like crying and one flaw in your prediction. Baby is too young to understand and register what happened. No memory of the incident for harrison. But the other two kids will always. Remember that mommy was killed.

Hats off to the writers for conceiving and executing such a sharp finale. Oddly, despite figuring out the Harrison bit, I came in agnostic as to whether Rita would be killed, but I think it was the right move dramatically and opens more future possibilities than it forecloses.

If I could predict mega-millions numbers, I wouldn't be writing pseudonymously on some random blog. Well, probably I would, but I'd be much richer.

Chelsea, I suspect the writers will have Harrison carry a dark passenger, though perhaps one not as dark as Dexter's. The other two kids didn't witness the killing: they will experience profound trauma but probably not develop Dexter-like pathologies. An important question is when, in show-time, the next season will pick up. It could be several years later, or it might not be until season six that Harrison is old enough to have his dark-passenger plot play out, if the show gets there. One way or the other, Dexter will have to decide to what extent to try to rid Harrison of darkness and to what extent to help Harrison indulge his darkness. Dexter's choice will hinge on how Dexter interprets himself and human nature: does he believe inner demons forged in youth can be transcended, or does he accept Trinity's fatalism? These alternatives were counterposed starkly in the season-four finale. Dexter will wrestle with them for some time.

It's still sad she died. I mean... She was so sweet and I loved her. She is dead! Omg! I can't beleive he tried soo hard to protect his family and trinity offer her. I wish he could have found rita dead before killing Arthur. Then there could have been vengance. Maybe his love for rita could have ultimately stopped his ways. Maybe killing arthed in revenge could have been emotional enough a kill to stop killing others... Even if those others were evil. And then he could have been an even better father than he already is...
